Field Notes from SAFe Thought Leaders
We continue to be impressed with the thought leadership continuously being generated by many of our SPCTs and SAFe Contributors. They are the people working ‘in the trenches’ on major implementations of SAFe, and the insights gained from those engagements are invaluable.
So today we’re launching a new series of blogs to help share that knowledge with the community. They themselves can best express what they’ve been learning, with little editorial guidance from me, so I’ll just direct you to the blog posts they publish on their own websites, along with maybe a few shout outs as to why I think the post may be worth your time to read. Let’s start this series with four of our leading thinkers.
Juha-Markus Aalto is a longtime SAFe collaborator and contributor. He blogs on his company’s web site and has a recent post titled, ‘Lean-Agile Portfolio Management with Systems Thinking Maximizes the Flow of Value.’ There he summarizes how systems thinking maximizes the value of an enterprise portfolio.
From SPCT Yuval Yeret comes a discussion of applying SAFe in a pure marketing context. As readers are well aware, SAFe is designed for building software and systems solutions, but it’s finding applications beyond that context. Indeed, here at Scaled Agile, Inc. we run our entire company on the Framework, and we clearly wouldn’t be as successful without it. Someday we may well share our experiences. In the meantime, in this blog post, Yuval proposes using SAFe for ‘Scaled Agile Marketing‘.
Recorded live at the 2017 SAFe Summit in San Antonio, SAFe Fellow and cultural thought leader Em Campbell-Pretty from Australia posts an Agile Amped podcast discussion around ‘Tribal Unity & Scaling Human Relationships.’ Author of the book, Tribal Unity, Em holds the distinction of launching the first ART in Australia.
Maarit Laanti is an SPCT who authored some of the original work on Lean-Agile budgeting. Here’s an update on her current thinking and how to apply Lean-Agile budgets in SAFe, while keeping an open eye for innovation and a growth mindset.
Hope you enjoy these new insights. We’re always interested in what SAFe thought leaders have to say.
